Intestine Cleanse – Traditional and Modern Methods
Our colon or large intestine is a site where a lot of dirt is formed. It is this place in our digestive tract, where the small intestine conveys the food which is almost digested and the job of large intestine is to look for any nutrients if it still contains and if it does, separate them to reabsorb them for the body. The remaining is the waste matters or feces which are to be thrown out. Because of its nature of job, the large intestine has been structured in such a way that it can perform the work at a slow pace. If in addition we eat foods that slow down digestion process, e.g. oily and sticky foods, meat, etc. it brings about constipation i.e. inability of passing stools. In such a condition, the large intestine cleanse becomes necessary.
Traditionally laxatives are taken to cleanse colon and get rid of constipation. Nowadays various products are available for colon cleansing. But there is a question mark about their efficacy and safety.
Procedures like enema too are used traditionally. Nowadays a colonic cleanser does the job, though it is to be done by a qualified doctor, while enema can be taken by the patient. The water used in the equipment may contain coffee, enzymes or probiotics and may vary in temperatures as per the need of the patient. The substances are added to the water to give medicinal effect. Probiotics are substances which contain helpful bacteria. Our intestine contains a large amount of useful bacteria which may be washed out during the procedure of colon cleansing. To compensate them, probiotics are used in the water.
Regardless of whether you take some product orally or undergo a procedure, your doctor must be consulted first. There are still some differences about the use of colon cleansers. Therefore a medical professional should be contacted for advice.
The best way to keep yourself healthy is to adopt healthy food habits and follow a regular exercise routine. When your body is active and food is more inclined towards Nature, you can never suffer from constipation.
