anxiety-disorderWe all get anxious sometimes and it’s completely normal. When you’re planning a wedding, speaking in public or when you have problems overcoming financial difficulties, many people get extremely nervous. But, for some people, anxiety can become so intense and frequent, that it slowly starts taking over the control of their lives. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy to tell the difference between normal, everyday anxiety and an anxiety disorder. So, when is the right time to talk with your doctor and seek anxiety relief?

Do you worry too much? One of the symptoms of an anxiety disorder is excessive worry about both large and small things. In other words, if you have persistent anxious thoughts almost every day for several months and if your emotions cause a lot of dysfunction and suffering, you might be suffering from an anxiety disorder.

Do you have problems with falling and/or staying asleep? Although that can be associated with many other health conditions and, of course, it can be normal from time to time (on a night before an exam, for instance), if it’s something that happens often, it might be a sign of an anxiety disorder. People who chronically find themselves lying awake, worrying about some real problem(s) or nothing special and are unable to calm themselves down are probably suffering from general anxiety disorder.

Phobia or irrational fear is a type of anxiety disorder and it’s associated with a specific thing or situation, such as snakes, heights or flying. Although it’s alright to be afraid of all these things, for some people this fear can become disruptive and overwhelming and they cannot overcome it. A phobia usually doesn’t surface until a person confronts certain thing or situation only to realize they’re completely incapable to deal with it.

If you’ve noticed any of above-mentioned signs and symptoms, seeking professional help is something you should do. With anxiety relief remedies and techniques, an anxiety disorder can be easily overcome and you’ll be able to live your life to the fullest again.
